GolfAhoy
is pleased to offer a 7 night golfing extravaganza to South West
Ireland, home to a rich golf history.
You start with Killarney Mahoney’s Point, This superb course,
situated beside the famous lakes of Killarney, is a good test for
golfers of all skill levels. With a combination of well undulated
greens, well positioned bunkers and water hazards, wayward shots
will often find trouble.
Day 2 takes you to Waterville, with its beauty of classic links
land, surrounded by the sea, yet forever challenged and shaped by
the elements. Over 100 years old, Waterville is rated among the
top 5 courses in Ireland and the top 20 links courses in the world.
Day 3 appeals to the golfer who is seeking a beautiful and tranquil
environment. Hole number 13 best illustrates the charm and magic
of Dooks. It is a throw back hole to the time when golf began. Greens
lay where they fell
and were better for it.
Day 4 takes you to the first course designed by Arnold Palmer in
Europe. Tralee is a course destined for greatness with its potential
to take a place among the best courses in the world. It is a setting
to match the matchless Pebble Beach. The 12th will some day rank
as one of the premier par 4s on the globe.
Day 5 takes you to the 5th ranked course in Ireland. Lahinch is
a gem of a course. Traditional in every sense of the word and a
magnificent test of golfing skills, especially when the wind is
blowing as it usually does in this part of County Clare. Lahinch
takes you on a roller coaster ride of magnificent holes with some
greens on plateaus, others at below fairway level and some tucked
away in between gigantic sand dunes.
The
final round of golf on this memorable trip is at Greg Norman’s
Doonbeg Golf Club. "This is a course I want to be identified
with, one I will be able to say with pride -- ' I did that one.'
I am the luckiest designer in the world . . . because of the uniqueness
of the site." - Greg Norman. Doonbeg is links play at its best,
featuring a single loop of nine holes out and nine back. The par-72
course plays along 1.5 miles of beach and dunes with the ocean visible
from the green, fairway, or tee of 16 of the 18 holes.
